The Galassi Supermarket Chain began in 1964 as a grocery store inside the family home in Jardim São Vicente, where the living room was used to sell beverages and food items such as wheat, salt, coffee, cookies, and bananas. Thanks to the efforts of patriarch João Galassi, his wife Angelina, and their children—Pedro, Natal, Sebastião, and João Carlos—who grew up helping at the grocery store, the business flourished. After overcoming significant challenges and difficult times—including the passing of founder João Galassi in the 1990s—the modest warehouse had already expanded to 500 square meters, and plans for expansion were underway; in 1993, the store was enlarged and a parking lot was built, transforming it into the Campinas/Valinhos branch. Over nearly half a century, the Galassi family has solidified its reputation as a major name in the neighborhood supermarket sector, growing into a network of four stores across Campinas: on the road to Valinhos, Avenida da Saudade, Suleste, and in the Sousas district. At Galassi, you’ll find the friendly way of being—a trait cultivated since the days of our small family shop and now reflected everywhere in our stores: from customer and supplier interactions to our wide range of products.
