**Business Unit:** Gringo \& Zapay **Work Model:** Remote **Job Objectives:** As a Staff Engineer, you will serve as a cross-functional technical reference with strong influence over architectural decisions, engineering standards, and the evolution of the platform supporting all product teams. You will not be focused on a specific squad but rather on elevating the system as a whole: reliability, scalability, security, developer experience, and operational efficiency. **Responsibilities and Duties** * Influence and guide medium- and long-term architectural decisions for the platform * Define and evolve technical standards for services, infrastructure, observability, and CI/CD * Act as guardian of technical quality, reducing complexity and technical debt * Collaborate closely with Tech Leads, SREs, and Tech Managers to help clarify difficult decisions * Design and evolve shared platforms and services (infrastructure, pipelines, templates, SDKs, internal tools) * Ensure high reliability, scalability, and security of production systems * Play a key role in observability, troubleshooting, and response to critical incidents * Promote an excellent Developer Experience by improving build, deploy, testing, and operational workflows * Mentor engineers at all levels, raising the organization’s overall technical standard * Translate business needs into elegant, incremental, and sustainable technical solutions * Make data-driven, metric-oriented decisions with real business impact **Requirements and Qualifications** **You must have:** * Solid experience as a Senior / Staff / Principal Engineer * Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript * Deep professional experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems * Solid knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure) * Excellent command of observability, troubleshooting, and production systems * Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) * Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code * Strong communication, influence, and mentoring skills * Ability to make complex technical decisions balancing business, engineering, and operations **Not required, but great to have:** * Prior deep involvement in platform or SRE teams * Experience working on large-scale projects using Python * Experience with event-driven architectures * Familiarity with and application of DDD, Clean Architecture, and Ports \& Adapters * Leadership experience in cross-functional engineering initiatives * Ability to explain complex technical decisions simply **Additional Information** **Here’s what we offer:** **** * Health Insurance (SulAmérica) * Dental Insurance (Bradesco) * Wellhub (formerly Gympass) – extendable to up to 3 dependents * 24/7 Telemedicine – online video consultations available every day of the week * Monthly SEM PARAR fee waiver – for 1 vehicle under the “Tag Imparável” plan * Meal Allowance or Food Allowance – you choose the best option: * VA for supermarket purchases * VR for daily use at restaurants * Birthday Day-Off (personal and company-wide) * Pregnancy support program and extended paternity leave * Life Insurance * Childcare Assistance * Assistance for Dependents with Disabilities (PCD) * Profit Sharing (PLR) We are Gringo and Zapay: two startups born to simplify life for drivers.
