As a Technical Consultant, you will support the IDB’s sectoral specialists in Brazil by conducting studies, technical analyses, and preparing analytical inputs, focusing on supporting the preparation and supervision of operations and technical cooperation, as well as generating applied knowledge to contribute to technical dialogue and decision-making. You will work within the Housing and Urban Development Division (HUD) in Brazil, part of the Climate Change and Sustainability Sector (CSD). This team is responsible for expanding access to the benefits of sustainable urban development for all citizens, supporting interventions and institutional changes addressing key urban challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean—including urban infrastructure and services, housing deficits, habitat degradation, and urban governance. **Your Responsibilities** ------------------- * Provide technical support for supervising credit operations, grants, and technical cooperation activities in Housing and Urban Development in Brazil through analytical review of documents and formulation of recommendations to support decision-making. * Support a portfolio of projects related to favela urbanization, social interest housing, housing improvements, green construction, disaster risk management, revitalization of historic centers, and retrofitting. * Support the preparation of new operations by gathering, systematizing, and analyzing information from diverse sources. * Produce technical notes, memoranda, presentations, and other analytical inputs to inform operational design and technical dialogue with partners. * Conduct literature reviews, comparative analysis of experiences, and support the conceptual structuring of interventions on topics such as housing, risk management, nature-based solutions, and sustainable construction. * Contribute to strengthening institutional capacities of Bank clients through the development of technical content, systematization of good practices, and support for capacity-building activities. * Produce analytical materials and inputs on gender and diversity inclusion in urban spaces, green infrastructure, and risk management. * Support the Division’s knowledge management through the preparation of reports, studies, technical notes, and systematization of operational results. * Contribute to preparing content for publications, institutional communications, and dissemination of sectoral good practices. * Participate in meetings, workshops, missions, and field visits, supporting technical and analytical dialogue with institutions, the private sector, civil society, and academia. **What You Will Need** --------------------------- * **Education:** Master’s degree in sustainable architecture and urban planning, territorial planning, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of this position. * **Experience:** At least 10 years of progressive experience implementing projects and activities related to urban and territorial development, housing, urban infrastructure, and green construction. Experience in formulating, implementing, and/or evaluating public-sector projects—ideally with engagement at national and municipal levels—is required. Qualifications or prior experience in the following specific areas are desirable: subnational program management, housing improvements, inclusion and diversity in public space, and disaster risk management. Prior experience with the IDB or other donors will be valued. * **Languages:** Proficiency in Portuguese and one of the Bank’s other official languages (Spanish or English) is required. **Requirements** -------------- **Citizenship:** You are a citizen of one of the 48 member countries.
