To work in the Optomechanics (OMC) Group of the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS)
Sirius is a particle accelerator designed to generate synchrotron light, focused on cutting-edge scientific and technological applications. Around it, research stations equipped with instruments and equipment developed internally by LNLS teams—using Brazilian technology—are distributed.
The Optomechanics (OMC) Group develops mirror and monochromator positioning systems, as well as optical metrology equipment and methods, representing the state-of-the-art in such devices. These instruments—designed using precision engineering and advanced mechatronics techniques—are essential to guaranteeing the spatial stability, energy, and focus parameters required for each experiment utilizing the synchrotron light produced by Sirius.
The position is intended for the OMC Group’s design and modeling team, aiming to support mechanical development of both 3D and 2D projects—thus assisting in concept development, component development, and final product realization.
**Responsibilities and Duties**
The candidate will monitor and assist in the following activities:
* Support the development of mechanical and optomechanical projects (mirrors and monochromators), focusing on precision engineering applied to scientific systems;
* Participate in monitoring manufacturing and assembly processes of components;
* Contribute to metrological characterization and component testing activities;
* Support the organization of technical documentation, project reports, and manufacturing drawings;
* Interdisciplinary collaboration with other research and development groups.
**Requirements and Qualifications** **Requirement:**
Currently enrolled in a Technical Program in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering.
