General Services Supervisor

Description

We are seeking a practical and proactive professional for the position of General Services Supervisor at our beef cattle unit. The supervisor will be responsible for overseeing maintenance and operational support activities, ensuring the proper functioning of facilities and providing support to field teams. This role involves direct leadership of General Workers, Machine Operators, and Animal Handlers, with a focus on efficiency and safety, contributing to the overall productivity of the unit. The position requires availability to work in a rural environment, with flexible hours and market-competitive compensation. Main Responsibilities: * Lead and guide General Workers, assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and promoting a safe and collaborative work environment. * Coordinate inspection and cleaning of facilities, including feeders, water troughs (water checks), corrals, and common areas, ensuring hygiene and prevention of contamination. * Assist in corral operations such as cattle processing (vaccination, weighing, branding, and handling), as well as general tasks like fence, equipment, and structure repairs. * Monitor the use of cleaning supplies, tools, and inputs, managing inventory and reporting needs to the Coordinator to prevent operational disruptions. * Inspect work areas to identify risks, implement safety protocols (e.g., PPE usage), and ensure compliance with environmental and animal welfare standards. * Identify opportunities to optimize general service processes, suggest improvements, and train staff to enhance efficiency. * Record daily activities, report problems or incidents to the Coordinator, and collaborate with other teams (such as foremen and cowboys) for operational integration. * Perform or supervise other general duties, such as material transport, gardening, or support during seasonal events (e.g., forage harvesting). Requirements: * High school diploma; technical courses in agriculture, rural maintenance, or related fields will be an advantage. * Minimum of 2 years of experience in similar roles on farms or livestock units, with practical knowledge in rural facility management and team supervision. Knowledge of basic maintenance (e.g., simple electrical/hydraulic repairs), use of hand tools and cleaning equipment; familiarity with biosecurity and animal welfare protocols. * Practical leadership skills, good communication, proactivity, ability to work in a team, and resilience for physical tasks in a rural environment. * Availability for flexible hours, including weekends or shifts; valid driver's license category B (for operating light vehicles on-site); good physical condition for manual labor, willingness to reside on the farm.
