PURPOSE OF THE ROLE BBC News Brasil delivers impactful journalism to Brazilian audiences across multiple formats. This role will join the São Paulo\-based journalism team in producing high\-quality content with a focus on text, helping ensure that BBC output maintains the highest editorial standards while reaching new audiences. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT: * Significant recent experience as a journalist, with a good knowledge of production techniques. * Demonstrates sound editorial and policy decisions based upon a clear understanding of the BBC’s distinctive news agenda, the requirements of news and current affairs coverage and the audience. * Ability to use technology as required, in order to gather material for broadcast. * Demonstrates a commitment to improving diversity in the BBC and understands how individual differences can benefit the BBC. * Effective planning and organising skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities. * Ability to write creatively in an engaging manner, adapt, produce and translate with accuracy, clarity and style appropriate to differing audiences and forms of media suitable for multimedia output. * The flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance, particularly under pressure to meet deadlines and changing priorities and circumstances. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: * Proven ability to successfully cover stories (in areas such as Politics, Economy, and Environment) in which editorial judgment is constantly put to the test, data accuracy is key and controversies present a high reputational risk to the BBC. * Proven ability to deliver exclusive content (with impartiality, creativity, and impact) in different platforms, including the ability to create scripts and present. * Ability to act up, with supervision, co\-ordinating assignments, subbing translations, and original Journalism exercising the BBC policies and values. Ability to give impartial, creative, and high\-impact headlines * Ability to come up with high\-impact original ideas in a consistent manner. * Ability to communicate well in English. * Ability to perform live in video with accuracy, impartiality and depth. * Ability to create scripts, film, edit and finalise videos and other multimedia content.
