Electro Aço Altona S.A. was founded on March 8, 1924, as a small foundry and mechanical repair workshop. Initially named Auerbach \& Werner—combining the surnames of its German\-origin owners: engineer Paul Werner and blacksmith Ernst Auerbach—the company expanded and incorporated steel into its production line, changing its name to Electro Aço Altona in 1933\. Thus emerged Santa Catarina’s first steel foundry and one of Brazil’s earliest.
Over the past decade, the company acquired other businesses to accommodate and expand its production line, while also establishing overseas subsidiaries to enhance client support in high\-demand commercial regions such as Europe and North America.
Altona continuously progresses, consistently identifying the most dynamic economic sectors to broaden its scope, develop new markets, and deliver its steel solutions across diverse industries.
