Job Summary: A professional responsible for conducting various field and laboratory sampling activities for soil, sugarcane, pests, and biological control, as well as assisting in agricultural operations. Assisting in laboratory analyses and production of biological agents **None:****RESPONSIBILITIES:** Collect soil, leaf, root, and clump samples by walking across the entire farm area for laboratory analysis. Cut sugarcane samples for delivery and technological quality analysis in the industrial laboratory. Conduct quality sampling of agricultural operations (soil preparation, sugarcane planting, fertilization, pesticide application, irrigation, sugarcane harvesting). Monitor pests from early-stage sugarcane through harvest-ready cane by manually cutting and splitting cane stalks to inspect for pests and damage; removing all straw around the sugarcane base to check for pests; manually digging holes and excavating trenches in the soil to inspect for pests. Apply biological agents for pest control by manually releasing natural enemies (Cotesia flavipes and Trichogramma galloi). Sample sugarcane seedlings by walking across the entire farm area within sugarcane plots, counting, cutting, weighing, and manually splitting cane stalks to verify presence of pests and diseases; counting viable buds; observing corking of stalks, cracks in cane, and damaged internodes. Re-cover sugarcane stalks during planting that are not fully covered by mechanical planters, using manual tools (hoes). Prepare sterile materials, solutions, culture media, and decontaminate equipment for use in quality control analyses.
