




Job Summary: Professional responsible for conducting soil, leaf, root, and sugarcane sampling for laboratory analysis, as well as monitoring pests and applying biological agents. Growth Opportunities and Training **None:****RESPONSIBILITIES:** Collect soil, leaf, root, and stool samples by walking across the entire farm area for laboratory analysis. Cut sugarcane samples for delivery and technological quality analysis at the industrial laboratory. Conduct quality sampling of agricultural operations (soil preparation, sugarcane planting, fertilization, pesticide application, irrigation, sugarcane harvesting). Perform pest monitoring—from young sugarcane to harvest-ready cane—by manually cutting and splitting cane stalks to inspect for pests and damage inside; removing all straw from the base of sugarcane plants to check for pests; manually digging holes and excavating trenches in the soil to inspect for pests. Apply biological agents for pest control by manually releasing natural enemies (Cotesia flavipes and Trichogramma galloi). Sample seedlings by walking across the entire farm area within sugarcane plots, manually counting, cutting, weighing, and splitting cane stalks to verify presence of pests and diseases; counting viable bud quantity; observing stem corking, cane cracks, and damaged internodes. Re-cover sugarcane stalks during planting that are not fully covered by mechanical planters, using manual tools (hoes). Prepare sterile materials, solutions, culture media, and decontaminate equipment for use in quality control analyses.
