Electro Aço Altona S.A. was founded on March 8, 1924, as a small foundry and mechanical repair workshop. It was initially named Auerbach \& Werner, combining the surnames of its German-origin owners: engineer Paul Werner and blacksmith Ernst Auerbach. The company expanded and incorporated steel into its production line, changing its name to Electro Aço Altona in 1933\. Thus emerged Santa Catarina’s first steel foundry and one of Brazil’s earliest.
Over the past decade, it acquired other companies to accommodate and expand its production line, and established subsidiaries abroad to extend customer support in high-demand commercial regions such as Europe and North America.
Altona continuously progresses, consistently identifying the most dynamic economic sectors to broaden its operations, developing new markets, and delivering its steel solutions across diverse industries.
