Initially named Auerbach \& Werner, the company resulted from the partnership between German-origin owners: engineer Paul Werner and blacksmith Ernst Auerbach. As the company expanded, steel production was incorporated into its operations, and in 1933 it adopted the name Electro Aço Altona. Thus, the first steel foundry in Santa Catarina—and one of the earliest in Brazil—was born. Over the past decade, the company has acquired other enterprises to broaden and strengthen its production line, and established overseas subsidiaries to extend customer support in key commercial regions such as Europe and North America. Altona continuously progresses, consistently identifying the most dynamic sectors of the economy to expand its presence, develop new markets, and deliver its steel solutions across diverse industries.
