Contribution to continuous improvement of laboratory processes The Laboratory Assistant's mission is to support laboratory activities related to highway maintenance and operation by conducting material sampling, testing, and controls—ensuring result reliability, sample traceability, and compliance with technical, safety, and environmental standards—thereby contributing to quality and continuous improvement of laboratory processes. **Responsibilities and Duties** **PRIMARY DUTIES:** * Prepare, conduct, and monitor laboratory and field tests on soils, asphalt, concrete, and other materials used on the highway. * Perform sampling, identification, and storage of samples, ensuring traceability and preventing contamination. * Accurately complete test sheets and material receipt control forms, ensuring information accuracy and compliance with technical procedures and applicable standards. * Support engineering and quality control team members in laboratory technical requirements. * Maintain, organize, and clean laboratory equipment, materials, and facilities. * Ensure compliance with safety regulations, internal procedures, and environmental protocols. * Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and quality control. * Verify equipment functionality before testing and assist in periodic calibration of instruments such as scales, ovens, and sieves to ensure precision and reliability of laboratory results. * Report any laboratory inconsistencies, equipment failures, or out-of-specification results to laboratory technicians to ensure correction and maintenance of test quality. **Requirements and Qualifications** **ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION** * Completed high school education; * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; * Driver's License Category B; * Willingness to travel. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** * Previous experience as a Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Aide; * Technical course in pavement engineering, construction, or related fields. **Additional Information** Competitive salary; Meal allowance; Health insurance plan extendable to dependents; Dental insurance plan extendable to dependents; Life insurance; Childcare assistance; Profit-sharing program (PLR); Private pension plan; Birthday day-off; Gym allowance; Partnership agreements with secondary (EJA), higher education, and postgraduate institutions; English language school partnership; Sports incentive program; Pharmacy partnership; Psychological counseling services; Employee referral program.
