RECEPTION AND COLLECTION ATTENDANT
**1. Job Purpose**
Perform biological sample collection with accuracy, safety, and empathy, ensuring correct patient identification, proper sample preservation, and compliance with technical standards and the laboratory’s Quality Management System.
**2. Job Requirements**
**Education:**
* Completed high school.
* Technical course in Nursing or Laboratory Collection, or training certificate (where applicable).
* Reside in Capim Grosso-BA or be available to work in the municipality.
**Experience:**
* Minimum of 6 months’ experience in laboratory collection is desirable.
**Desired Knowledge:**
* Venous and capillary puncture techniques.
* Basic anatomy and physiology.
* Biosafety standards and waste disposal procedures.
* Pre-analytical requirements and sample preservation.
**3. Duties and Responsibilities**
* Prepare materials, equipment, and the collection environment for blood and other biological sample collection, in accordance with the Collection Manual.
* Escort patients to collection rooms, providing empathetic and humanized support.
* Actively identify patients and verify requested tests prior to collection.
* Perform venous, capillary, or other biological sample collection (urine, feces, secretions, etc.) using appropriate technique to minimize discomfort and ensure sample integrity.
* Instruct patients on pre- and post-collection care, as well as special test requirements.
* Correctly label tubes and containers, maintaining sample traceability per the QMS.
* Package and transport samples following temperature, time, and biological safety criteria.
* Maintain organization, cleanliness, and restocking of supplies in the collection room.
* Dispose of waste according to classification and current regulations (biosafety and applicable RDCs).
* Report clinical incidents, non-conformities, or adverse events during collection to the immediate supervisor.
* Support audit processes, training, continuous improvement, and quality indicator analysis.
* Actively participate in training sessions, capacity-building activities, and meetings.
**4. Authority**
* Refuse collection in situations involving risk, absence of consent, or apparent clinical contraindication.
* Request clarification when prescriptions are illegible, incomplete, or incompatible with the test.
* Isolate and report samples collected incorrectly or inadequately.
* Interrupt the procedure in case of patient complications.
