May About the position The Governor of Svalbard seeks a structured and analytical advisor to strengthen our work on economic management and internal control. This is a fixed-term position for three years, with the possibility of extension. **The position comprises two main areas:** Economic management for the Svalbard Environmental Protection Fund Organization-wide internal control The position is located within the Administration Department and reports to the Head of Administration. At the Governor of Svalbard, you will play a central role in developing the Fund’s economic management and the organization’s internal control. Job responsibilities The position includes two main areas of responsibility, where the distribution of effort between them may vary over the year according to organizational needs and priorities. Tasks and responsibilities may vary but will include, among other things: **Economic management – Svalbard Environmental Protection Fund:** Invoice processing and voucher verification, including invoicing and verification of grant disbursements Verification of reporting from grant recipients Reconciliation and reporting; responsibility for budgeting and accounting work Administrative tasks related to grant administration Ongoing support to the Fund’s secretariat In carrying out these tasks, you will collaborate closely and regularly with the Fund’s secretary. **Organization-wide internal control:** Establish, further develop, and manage a comprehensive system for internal management and control, integrated into the organization’s planning, budgeting, and reporting processes Assist in conducting risk assessments at the organizational level and follow up actions and status with the management group Contribute to compliance with the state’s financial regulations, including requirements for reliable reporting and efficient use of resources Monitor selected risk areas, such as procurement, contract management, and grant administration Coordinate and follow up audits and inspections Qualifications **Mandatory requirements:** Relevant education in economics/accounting (minimum bachelor’s degree) Solid and relevant experience in economics and accounting work Good systems understanding and confident use of digital work tools Experience with or solid understanding of state financial regulations Excellent written and oral communication skills in Norwegian **Desirable qualifications:** Experience with internal control, risk management, or audit-related work Familiarity with public grant schemes Experience with state systems such as DFØ and UNIT4 Experience in public administration What we offer if you choose us Fixed-term position (3 years) with possibility of extension Salary based on qualifications: Advisor (NOK 650,000 \- 730,000) or Senior Advisor (NOK 720,000 \- 780,000) gross per year Membership in the State Pension Fund Good working conditions and welfare arrangements Arctic allowance (currently NOK 124 per day) Svalbard tax, national insurance contribution, and pension contributions currently total 17.6 %.
