Founded on February 21, 1937 by Professor José Silveira, the José Silveira Foundation (FJS) has expanded its mission through sustainable growth, anchored in strategic planning and a focus on outstanding results. As a nonprofit philanthropic institution, FJS primarily serves underserved populations, delivering high-quality services.
This is evidenced by the benchmark work of our units in areas such as tuberculosis control, neonatal care, humanized childbirth, breast cancer treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with neuropsychomotor, intellectual, and autism-related disabilities. Annually, FJS delivers over 1.2 million services. Furthermore, FJS implements health promotion, prevention, and socio-environmental initiatives targeting communities in Salvador and municipalities across Bahia’s interior—contributing to improvements in social and health indicators across the state.
