Proactively anticipating incidents and suggesting improvements **Job Description:** \\We are seeking a professional responsible for administering, maintaining, monitoring, optimizing, and securing corporate databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity. This role covers both operational tasks and continuous improvement initiatives as well as evolution projects. **Main Responsibilities** Administer databases (installation, configuration, updates, backup/restore, tuning, security, and documentation). Monitor performance and availability, adjusting parameters, indexes, execution plans, and storage structures. Troubleshoot incidents, identifying root causes and implementing fixes or recommendations. Plan and execute backup and recovery routines, ensuring adherence to RPO and RTO. Manage users, permissions, and security policies, ensuring compliance and audit readiness. Support and oversee deployments, migrations, and structural changes. Develop and optimize SQL scripts, stored procedures, and automated routines. Propose improvements to data architecture, processes, and administration practices. Collaborate with developers, architects, and business areas to ensure performance and best practices. \\Essential Technical Skills Database platforms and engines: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL/MariaDB (at least two at proficient level). Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra) is a plus. \\Performance & Tuning Execution plan analysis. Query and index optimization. Statistics management and partitioning. High Availability and Continuity Configuration of replication, clustering, mirroring, Always On, RAC (depending on the DBMS). Backup/restore strategies, recovery testing, and retention management. \\Automation and Scripting Advanced SQL. Shell, PowerShell, or Python scripting for routine automation. Monitoring and Observability Tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus/Grafana, OEM, SQL Monitor. Health metrics, alerts, and capacity reporting. Cloud Environments (Desirable) Azure SQL, AWS RDS/Aurora, Google Cloud SQL. Hybrid migration and administration (on\-premise \+ cloud). \\Behavioral Competencies Analytical reasoning and ability to rapidly identify complex issues. Clear communication, especially when interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Discipline and organization—critical in mission-critical environments. Proactivity in anticipating incidents and suggesting improvements. Collaborative work, integrating with Dev, SRE, Engineering, and Governance teams. Ownership mindset and accountability, given the direct impact on business systems. **\\Preferred Education** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields. Certifications are advantageous: Oracle OCA/OCP Microsoft Azure/SQL Server PostgreSQL Professional AWS Database Specialty \\ Success Indicators Reduction in performance- and availability-related incidents. Regularly tested and validated backup and restore executions. Efficient problem resolution within SLAs. Noticeable improvements in query and application performance.
