**Backend Developer – Python | Aton AI** ================================================ **Experience Level: Mid to Senior** **About the Opportunity** ------------------------ We are seeking a Backend Developer to directly support, evolve, and operate a critical platform for capturing and processing fiscal and financial documents, used by production customers. The hired candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and continuous evolution of the backend powering our accounts payable automation product, as well as supporting the administration of several essential internal tools required for company operations. We seek an analytical individual with strong accountability in production environments and the ability to systematically investigate issues before proposing solutions. **Key Responsibilities** -------------------------------- ### **Document Capture Platform (Primary Focus)** Maintain and evolve a backend responsible for capturing, processing, and delivering Brazilian fiscal and financial documents to customers’ ERP systems. The platform retrieves documents from two independent sources: * Integration with government APIs (SEFAZ), using customers’ digital certificates; * Automated capture and processing of documents received via email. The system operates in production, serving active customers, and uses a distributed architecture based on message queues and asynchronous processing, deployed on containerized infrastructure. ### **Day-to-Day Activities** * Handle and resolve tickets related to the product; * Investigate incidents and resolve production issues; * Perform deployments and monitor application stability; * Execute database migrations and relational database maintenance; * Support technical onboarding of new customers; * Implement minor features, bug fixes, and continuous improvements; * Monitor logs, queues, and critical system processes; * Participate in root cause analysis and postmortem documentation. **Internal Tools (Secondary Scope)** -------------------------------------------- In addition to the main platform, this role will also support a lean set of self-hosted internal tools used by the team. ### **Responsibilities** * Ensure availability and proper functioning of internal systems; * Perform version upgrades and updates; * Carry out custom configurations when necessary; * Implement ad-hoc integrations between tools; * Support operational maintenance of associated infrastructure. **Mandatory Requirements** --------------------------- * Minimum 3 years of production experience with Python; * Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL; * Experience with complex queries, indexes, locks, tuning, and execution plan analysis; * Hands-on experience with queue-based and asynchronous processing architectures; * Experience in containerized environments; * Ability to analyze logs and diagnose production issues; * Proficiency with Git and version control workflows; * Strong written communication in Portuguese for ticketing, technical documentation, commits, and postmortems; * Investigative and meticulous profile when making changes to production systems. **Nice-to-Have** ---------------- * Operational experience with container orchestration platforms; * Knowledge of Brazilian electronic fiscal documents (NF-e, CT-e, NFS-e); * Experience with self-hosted web applications and traditional server-side stacks; * Experience with Python frameworks oriented toward asynchronous programming; * Regular use of AI tools for software development (AI-assisted coding); * Experience in mission-critical SaaS environments. **What Is Not Required** -------------------------- * Frontend development; * Experience with UI frameworks; * Involvement in design or interface development.
