The Production Operator is responsible for the cylinder filling process for various gases, ensuring cylinders are filled safely and efficiently in compliance with all safety and quality standards and regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES **1.** **Preparation and Inspection:** * Handle cylinders manually using trolleys and/or an electric pallet truck. * Follow mandatory instructions outlined in Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) POP.008 – Cylinder Inspection and Work Instruction (WI). * Visually inspect cylinders for damage, external corrosion, deformation, defects, paint condition, and presence of grease or oil prior to filling. * Verify the validity of the cylinder’s hydrostatic test. * Operate a grinding machine if information on the cylinder’s dome is illegible. * Register industrial cylinders and subsequently affix ID labels and/or QR codes. * Ensure equipment—including valves and connections—is in good working condition. * Reject cylinders for filling if any nonconformity is detected; in case of doubt, consult the Shift Supervisor or Department Supervisor. **2.** **Filling Process:** * Operate gas cylinder filling equipment in accordance with SOP POP.009 and WI. * Monitor pressure gauges, control panels, and temperature during filling to ensure safe gas storage. * Adjust systems and regulators as necessary to maintain safe operating conditions. * Complete internal production records. **3.** **Quality Control:** * Follow guidelines described in Standard Operating Procedures. * Assist in sorting filled medical cylinders for laboratory analysis. * Support the laboratory by providing standard gases for analyzer calibration checks. * Remove old packaging materials (labels and seals) from industrial cylinders. * Perform leak tests on cylinder valves. * Conduct final pressure tests on cylinders after filling. * Label and seal industrial cylinders after filling. * Complete internal production records. **4.** **Equipment Handling:** * Maintain and ensure the good condition of equipment, tools, and utensils: electric pallet trucks, cages, trolleys, control panels, pumps, scales, flexible hoses, pressure gauges, grinders, etc. * Complete internal records. **5.** **Maintenance and Cleaning** * Perform cleaning and basic maintenance on cylinder filling equipment. * Ensure the work area is clean and organized at the end of each shift. JOB REQUIREMENTS **Education:** Completed high school **Desired Experience:** NR 11 – Electric Pallet Truck Training KEY REQUIREMENTS **KNOWLEDGE** * Understanding of physical and chemical properties of handled gases—e.g., pressure, temperature, and behavior under varying conditions. * Familiarity with equipment used in the filling process, including pumps, pressure meters, and valve systems. * Knowledge of specific safety regulations governing the handling and storage of compressed gases, such as ABNT, ANVISA, and other applicable regulatory standards. * Understanding of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to cylinder filling and fault detection. **SKILLS** * Ability to identify discrepancies or potential issues before they cause process failures or safety hazards. * Proficiency in operating filling equipment safely and effectively, and making necessary adjustments. * Aptitude to rapidly diagnose and resolve operational problems, minimizing downtime while maintaining safety. * Competence in maintaining accurate daily operation records and communicating relevant information to team members or supervisors. **ATTITUDE** * Commitment to Safety: Prioritize safety in all activities, adopting a proactive mindset to identify and mitigate risks. * Proactivity: Take initiative to improve processes and suggest enhancements to increase operational efficiency and safety. * Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with coworkers and contribute to a positive, cooperative work environment. * Responsibility: Assume personal accountability for one’s work, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and attentively. * Flexibility: Adaptability to changes in operations or procedures, and openness to learning new skills and technologies.
