Description: The Commander is the professional responsible for the complete management of the vessel, crew, and safe conduct of navigation and maneuvering operations. Main responsibilities: * Carry out duties defined by NORMAM-101 and regulations issued by the Maritime Authority of the port of operation; * Be fully responsible for navigation, maneuvers, vessel conditions, and crew welfare; * Conduct or delegate daily inspections of the vessel, verifying hygiene, cleanliness, and safety conditions; * Ensure compliance with regulations concerning lifesaving equipment, organization of drills, and emergency simulations; * Personally assume command during maneuvers such as berthing, unberthing, anchoring, passage through hazardous areas, and entering or leaving ports or docks; * Ensure compliance with navigation safety and pollution prevention regulations; * Assist vessels in distress, providing aid whenever there is no imminent risk to the Commander’s own vessel or crew; * Ensure the presence and readiness of all crew members prior to each departure; * Direct team collaboration to resolve technical problems or carry out maritime tasks; * Assign individual crew tasks and supervise their execution. Desired qualifications: * Experience operating azimuthal harbor tugboats; * Education: Boatswain or Coastal Master STCW II/5; * Valid maritime certification; * Valid Certificate of Registry (CIR) for the position; * Up-to-date vaccination record.
