Description
JOTA is seeking a Product Manager to lead the development of the JOTA website and the Content Efficiency and AI team, overseeing the end-to-end product lifecycle—from discovery through launch and continuous evolution—or coordinating deliveries per functional area. You will work directly with Content, Technology, and Design/UX teams, as well as other company departments, translating customer, journalistic, and business needs into product decisions that balance business value, technical feasibility, and commercial sustainability. We seek someone who conducts user and stakeholder discovery, frames problems before proposing solutions, and leverages data to guide the roadmap. You will also continuously manage the backlog—prioritizing, slicing, and discarding requests based on impact and evidence—and monitor delivery and outcomes to inform subsequent cycles.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the product lifecycle from conception through launch and continuous improvement;
• Define and maintain the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in collaboration with the Product Leadership team, aligning OKRs, customer needs, and team capabilities;
• Monitor market trends, competitors, and industry developments;
• Lead product discovery (problem framing, interviews, prototyping, experimentation) in partnership with Product Design and Technology;
• Support definition of value proposition and audience segmentation;
• Manage backlog and prioritization based on impact, customer value, and technical feasibility—slicing and discarding requests as needed;
• Write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria; maintain PRDs and decision records;
• Conduct PM-owned ceremonies such as business refinement and delivery reviews;
• Ensure technical debt is included in the backlog as strategic investment;
• Define success metrics per initiative and track usage, engagement, retention, and satisfaction indicators;
• Evaluate post-launch impact—distinguishing correlation from causality—to inform decisions on continuation, adjustment, or discontinuation;
• Maintain ongoing alignment with involved teams and provide leadership visibility into progress and results;
• Orchestrate product and feature launches (release notes, announcements, operational alignment);
• Enable internal teams on launched products or new features.
Requirements:
• Clear and adaptive communication, tailoring language for teams, leadership, commercial areas, and readers;
• Leadership and influence without formal authority; constructive stakeholder and conflict management;
• Analytical thinking and ability to frame problems before jumping to solutions;
• Active listening, empathy, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams;
• Inquisitive mindset, resilience, and continuous learning;
• Organization and time management, balancing strategic and operational demands.
• Experience with agile methodologies and product lifecycle management tools (preferably Jira);
• Basic SQL knowledge and familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar) for autonomous daily analysis;
• Proven ability to make data-driven decisions, balancing quantitative and qualitative evidence.
Desirable:
• Minimum 2 years as a Product Manager for digital products;
• Experience with content, media, or specialized information products;
• Exposure to products serving large-scale digital audiences (SEO, performance, reader engagement);
• Interest in or knowledge of JOTA’s core domains: journalism and the activities of the three branches of government (Executive, Legislative, and Judicial).
Benefits:
• Meal/voucher card—flexible use;
• Short-term incentive plan (annual)—subject to collective and individual goals;
• Comprehensive health and dental insurance—including dependents;
• Physical activity allowance;
• Internet allowance per company policy;
• Extended maternity and paternity leave;
• Corporate learning licenses: Datacamp, O'Reilly, Cambly;
• Development and training plan;
• OrienteMe license—5 therapy sessions;
• C4life license—for legal, financial, and veterinary guidance for pets;
• Home office allowance—applicable during the first two months, designated for furniture purchase.
Other Information:
• Flexible working hours.
