Assists the Pastry Chef in the kitchen with preparing breads and cakes for breakfast, desserts, savory snacks, cookies, etc. for coffee breaks, picnics, and afternoon tea. Assist the Executive Chef, Cook I, and/or Salad Chef as needed. Understand and communicate the company's mission, vision, values, and responsibilities to the team. Understand and communicate the hotel’s standards and procedures, as well as those specific to the department. Share all relevant knowledge with coworkers. Maintain and verify proper personal appearance and correctly worn uniform. Assist in staff training. Assist the Pastry Chef in task delegation. Execute the daily menu. Thoroughly understand technical specifications. Assist the Pastry Chef with weekly inventory of stock. Organize and maintain stockroom order; in the Pastry Chef’s absence, report procurement needs and stock movements, submit material requisitions, and perform daily stock storage. Verify that requisitioned supplies and materials have arrived as specified. Evaluate raw material quality. Assist the Pastry Chef with monthly inventory of tableware and linens in the department; in the Pastry Chef’s absence, report purchase requirements when necessary. Assist the Pastry Chef in accurate product identification and verification to ensure no expired or non-conforming products are present in the kitchen/pastry area. Assist in organizing items orderly within designated areas, adhering to the FIFO principle (First-In, First-Out) to minimize waste in the kitchen/pastry area.
