Job Description: The Metalworker performs tasks related to the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of metal structures. They work with different types of metals, such as steel, iron, and aluminum, using specialized tools and appropriate techniques to produce metal parts and structures. Below are some of the main responsibilities for this position: Responsibilities: 1\. Reading Drawings: Interpret technical drawings and project plans to understand specifications and requirements for the work to be performed. Identify required dimensions, cuts, bends, and welds. 2\. Material Preparation: Select appropriate metallic materials for each project, considering the type of structure, required strength, and client specifications. Measure, cut, and shape materials according to required dimensions. 3\. Welding and Assembly: Apply welding techniques (e.g., arc welding, MIG, or TIG) to join metal components, ensuring strong and secure connections. Assemble metal structures using bolts, rivets, or welding, as specified in the project. 4\. Finishing and Polishing: Perform finishing operations on metal parts and structures, removing burrs, smoothing edges, and applying surface treatments such as painting, galvanizing, or protective coatings when necessary. 5\. Installation and Repair: Install metal structures at designated locations, following project specifications. Repair damaged metal structures by replacing components or making adjustments as needed. 6\. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain metalworking tools and equipment in good working condition by performing cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs when necessary. Report requirements for maintenance or replacement of equipment. 7\. Safety and Quality: Strictly adhere to workplace safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure quality and precision of fabricated metal parts and structures by verifying dimensions, alignment, and structural integrity. 8\. Teamwork: Collaborate with other metalworkers, assistants, or professionals from other disciplines as needed to meet deadlines and ensure work quality. Requirements: * Proven experience as a metalworker or in similar activities. * Solid knowledge of reading and interpreting technical drawings. * Proficiency in using manual and electric tools specific to metalworking. * Knowledge of welding and metal structure assembly techniques. * Familiarity with workplace safety standards. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Attention to detail and precision skills. * Good physical fitness and manual dexterity. * Willingness to perform work at heights when required. * Certifications or training courses in metalworking are desirable but not mandatory.
