Description

We are looking for a Mid-level QA Engineer to join our quality team — currently composed of a Junior QA focused on exploratory testing. This hiring is part of a structured initiative to reposition quality: moving the QA role from the final stage (chasing bugs in two days) to the beginning of the sprint, actively participating in refinement, writing test cases in parallel with development, and automating critical flows. This is an analytical role, not merely executional. The person who takes this position will directly influence how requirements reach development — by questioning scenarios, identifying missing rules, and designing tests before code exists. **Responsibilities** Short term (0–90 days): * Deep dive into the product and platform, shadowing the Junior QA during exploratory testing to understand the domain. * Map critical platform flows with the team, prioritizing modules with the highest incidence of hotfixes. * Build the automation foundation with Playwright (from scratch), starting with stable critical flows. * Observe refinement sessions during the first weeks, then actively participate starting from week five. **Medium term (90–180 days):** * Participate in refinement as the PO’s technical peer: question requirements, anticipate edge-case scenarios, propose acceptance criteria in Gherkin format (Given/When/Then). * Write test cases in parallel with development (shift-left), based on the card’s acceptance criteria. * Maintain and expand the automation suite, integrating it into the CI pipeline (smoke regression in staging + smoke post-deploy). * Mentor the Junior QA — pair testing, test design techniques, feedback on bug reports. * Classify bug origins (poorly specified rule, implementation defect, integration issue, environment issue) and report weekly trends. **Long term (180+ days):** * Serve as the internal quality reference — propose policies, metrics, and structural improvements. * Influence the product team in defining acceptance criteria and documenting screen behavior. * Help reduce the ratio of bugs found in production versus those found in staging. **Mandatory Requirements** * 3–5 years of experience as a QA, including at least 1 year of hands-on experience in E2E test automation (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar). * Proficiency in test design techniques (equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, state-based testing, decision tables). * Experience writing acceptance criteria in Gherkin or equivalent format. * Knowledge of frontend testability best practices (data-testid, stable selectors, page objects). * Demonstrated ability to participate in refinement — not just execute tests. * Fluent Portuguese; technical English reading proficiency. **Desired Qualifications** * Prior experience specifically with Playwright. * Experience working on React projects. * Familiarity with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar). * Experience in healthcare, fintech, or other highly regulated domains. * Prior experience mentoring Junior QAs or interns. **Soft Skills** * Analytical maturity: able to examine vague requirements and ask the questions that uncover edge cases. * Technical communication: advocates for a test scenario in meetings with POs and developers without triggering unproductive resistance — proposes alternatives. * Adaptability: handles mid-sprint route changes by reprioritizing without stalling. * Ownership mindset: proactively seeks missing information instead of waiting for fully prepared cards. * Mentoring attitude: invests time in building the Junior’s autonomy, not just correcting isolated issues.
