To check your application status, log in to our careers page using your candidate credentials, as it will reflect any updates.** **Responsibilities/Profile:** Responsibilities – Sample Preparation (Focus of This Role) Reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings Selecting appropriate locations for specimen removal Preparing metallurgical samples, including: * Operating band saws and hand saws * Operating benchtop and hand drills * Operating precision cutters * Mounting specimens * Sanding parts and specimens using circular sandpaper and rotary grinders Proper handling and identification of samples and specimens Conducting mechanical hardness tests (Brinell, Rockwell B and C) Operating overhead cranes, when applicable Organizing the workstation per 5S standards Strictly adhering to safety procedures, work instructions, and environmental standards (ISO 14001\) **Skills:** Attention to detail and precision in task execution Ability to follow technical procedures and work instructions Organization and discipline Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship Teamwork and effective communication **Basic Qualifications:** Completed technical education in: Metallurgical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Chemical Technology, or related fields Minimum 2 years of experience in metallurgical laboratory activities or industrial production processes (assembly, welding, machining, painting, part preparation) Knowledge of reading and interpreting engineering drawings Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office suite) Familiarity with measuring instruments (calipers, tape measures, etc.) **Preferred Candidates Should Have:** Experience operating band saws and hand saws, benchtop and hand drills, precision cutters, and rotary grinders Experience in metallurgical sample preparation Candidates with a technical background in metallurgy *Note: This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days per week.* **Interested in this challenge and want to develop your career at Caterpillar?
