As a **Senior Backend Software Engineer** at Mercado Livre, you will design and scale innovative and secure systems that solve real-world, high-impact problems. You will work in a dynamic environment powered by cutting-edge technology, applying engineering best practices, proprietary AI models, and continuous learning—all to democratize e-commerce and financial services across Latin America. Imagine yourself leading challenging, dynamic, and innovative projects and **being responsible for:** * Building and evolving vehicle marketplace solutions: listing flows, search, product pages, transactions, new vehicles (0km), used vehicles, and experiences for dealerships and OEMs. Ensuring quality, performance, and regional scalability in every delivery. * Applying AI thoughtfully in product and process: integrating LLMs and agent-based workflows into the product where they deliver tangible value. Using AI in development itself (vibe coding) with rigor: validating outputs, defining internal standards, and anticipating risks—because "appears correct" does not mean "is correct." * Defining, implementing, and monitoring business and operational metrics for each delivery—without metrics, there is no way to know whether we generated impact. * Collaborating and coordinating with other teams and regions: negotiating technically, jointly defining roadmaps, managing cross-team dependencies, and unblocking obstacles. * Mentoring more junior engineers: documenting decisions, scaling best practices, acting as a buddy or coach, and serving as a cross-functional reference. **What are we looking for in you?** * Proven experience in backend development with Java and/or Go in high-scale production environments. * Solid knowledge of distributed systems architecture, microservices, API design, and event-driven patterns. * Experience with observability and operations: metrics, logs, traces, alerts, SLAs, and on-call processes. * Demonstrated ability to technically lead complex end-to-end initiatives: evaluating alternatives, making decisions, justifying them with sound reasoning, and tracking progress. * Experience using AI in development with rigor—validating outputs, defining usage standards, and identifying risks. **Are you excited to leave your mark on Latin American technology?** Apply now and join our purpose!
