We are looking for a **Product Development Engineer** to lead end-to-end development of automotive components and systems — from concept through to production launch. Here, you will have the opportunity to directly influence the final product while working in a dynamic, global, and highly collaborative environment. The Product Development Engineer is responsible for the development, validation, and industrialization of automotive components or systems. This role bridges concept development, detailed engineering, testing, and production launch, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure technical, cost, quality, and timeline targets are met. **Responsibilities and Duties** * Translate vehicle and customer requirements into technical specifications; * Support system architecture definition and integration; * Implement design changes based on test results, manufacturing feedback, or supplier input; * Participate in technical design reviews and milestone reviews; * Support supplier selection and technical alignment; * Review supplier designs, drawings, and validation plans; * Manage technical issues with suppliers during development and ramp-up; * Ensure compliance with automotive standards and OEM requirements; * Support prototype construction, pilot batches, and SOP (Start of Production); * Resolve manufacturing and assembly issues; * Support cost optimization and design-to-cost initiatives; **Requirements and Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields; * Advanced or native fluency in English; * Experience in automotive product development; * Experience in at least one complete vehicle development cycle; * Practical experience with automotive components or systems, such as: chassis, body, powertrain, thermal systems, interiors, electric vehicle systems, electronics, etc.; * Knowledge of program and project management; * Knowledge of automotive component or system development, from concept through to production launch; * Ability to operate effectively in a global environment; * International experience and familiarity with different time zones and cultures; * Flexibility and learning agility; * Strong analytical ability, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; **You will STAND OUT if you have:** ------------------------------------- * Postgraduate degree in Vehicle Systems (Powertrain, Chassis, etc.) or Electric Vehicle Engineering; * Intermediate/Advanced German; * Intermediate/Advanced Mandarin; **Additional Information** At BYD, we prioritize the well-being of our employees and continuously strive to improve our benefits package.
