Job Summary: The Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for analysis, control, and management of geotechnical risks at an open-pit mine, with a focus on slope and structural stability, providing support to operational areas. Key Highlights: 1. Close collaboration with Geology, Planning, and Operations teams 2. Focus on slope stability and geotechnical risk management 3. Technical support for safe decision-making **Summary of Responsibilities:** The Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling the geotechnical conditions of an open-pit mine, focusing on pit slope and associated structural stability. This role involves interpreting monitoring data, conducting geotechnical studies, and providing technical support to Planning and Operations teams, contributing to safe decision-making and geotechnical risk management for the operation. This professional will work closely with Geology, Mine Planning, Operations, and SSMA teams, supporting continuous evaluation of the pit’s geotechnical performance, definition of operational controls, and preventive identification of potential instabilities. Additionally, this role includes preparing technical analyses, tracking geotechnical performance indicators, and participating in implementing monitoring, inspection, and risk management practices aligned with the operation’s technical and safety standards. **Key Activities:** * Conduct geotechnical and geomechanical studies applied to pit slope stability and other mine structures; * Update and interpret 3D geotechnical models, including structural models and rock mass classifications; * Perform stability analyses using Limit Equilibrium Methods (LEM) and numerical analyses via Finite Element Method or Finite Difference Method (FEM/FDM); * Execute and interpret data from geotechnical instrumentation, such as piezometers, prisms, total stations, and monitoring systems; * Evaluate geotechnical trends and behaviors, identify anomalies, and propose technical mitigation recommendations; * Conduct periodic field geotechnical inspections to verify stability conditions, geometric conformity, and preventive identification of instabilities; * Perform field geomechanical mapping using classifications such as RMR, GSI, and Q\-System; * Support short- and medium-term mining planning through geotechnical recommendations and constraints; * Monitor geotechnical performance indicators related to slope, bench, and post\-blasting stability; * Evaluate the performance of surface and subsurface drainage systems within the pit; * Participate in analysis and monitoring of geotechnical risks associated with mine operations; * Prepare technical reports, expert opinions, technical notes, and records of geotechnical inspections and analyses; * Provide technical support to Operations, Planning, SSMA, and Risk Management teams; * Participate in internal and external audits related to geotechnical management of the operation. **Required Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Mining Engineering; * Experience in geotechnics applied to open-pit mining operations; * Knowledge of rock mass mapping and classification (RMR, GSI, Q\-System); * Experience in slope stability analyses using Limit Equilibrium Methods (LEM); * Knowledge of geotechnical modeling and structural interpretation; * Hands-on experience with instrumental geotechnical monitoring and interpretation of instrumentation data; * Experience with geotechnical analysis and modeling software. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Experience with numerical analyses using Finite Element Method or Finite Difference Method (FEM/FDM); * Familiarity with Rocscience suite software (Dips, Slide, RS², RocSlope2, RocFall2, RSData); * Experience with Leapfrog Geo, Deswik, or QGIS software; * Knowledge of hydrogeology applied to mining; * Experience with waste dumps or ore stockpiles; * English proficiency is considered a plus. **Additional Information:** * Work schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off; FIFO; * Transportation, accommodation, and meals provided by the company. **About the Company:** G Mining Ventures (GMIN) is a gold mining company focused on acquiring, developing, and operating precious metals projects. It currently operates the Tocantinzinho (TZ) Mine in Pará, Brazil, which commenced commercial production in 2024\. The company stands out for its efficient project execution approach, consistently delivering projects on time and within budget. With an expanding portfolio—including the Oko West project (Guyana) and Gurupi project (Maranhão)—G Mining reinforces its position as a future leader in intermediate gold production across the Americas. **We value diversity and are committed to inclusion!** If you are a person with a disability seeking an opportunity to grow professionally, we would love to meet you!
