Job Summary: The HVR Group manages engineering projects and installations focused on HVAC systems and industrial utilities. Key Highlights: 1. Collect data and gather project requirements 2. Act as the Project’s “Focal Point” and technical leader To work within the HVAC and Cooling (HVR) Group of the Deputy Directorate of Infrastructure (DAI) The HVR Group manages engineering projects and installations focused on HVAC systems and industrial utilities, such as process water, compressed air, and specialty gases. Activities span from defining assumptions and technical specifications to contracting design and execution firms, as well as overseeing installation implementation through commissioning and handover. The Group is also responsible for developing and reviewing specifications, budgets, procurement, and technical evaluation of engineering solutions. **Responsibilities and Duties** **Areas of Expertise:** * HVAC – Air Conditioning, Ventilation, Heating * Chilled Water Plant – Chillers, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Thermal Insulation, Thermocline Storage Tanks * Cleanrooms and pressure cascades between environments * Hydraulic Systems for thermal stability of equipment and environments * Industrial Gas Distribution Systems * Compressed Air Generation and Distribution * Production and maintenance of softened and deionized water **Responsibilities:** * Collect data and gather project requirements in collaboration with CNPEM’s internal team. * Develop mechanical engineering projects—for example, in areas including HVAC, hydraulic systems for thermal stabilization of equipment, industrial gas distribution, and compressed air generation and distribution. * Specify mechanical design and installation services—draft technical specifications and descriptive memoranda for mechanical installations; support and define procurement strategies for design and installation. * Support procurement of design and installation services by qualifying suppliers and service providers; prepare supplier invitation letters, competition maps, evaluate proposals, assist in contract consolidation, and review contracts. * Coordinate mechanical installation projects—review designs, guide contracted designers toward optimal installation solutions, considering the most suitable applications for each case to achieve cost-effective, high-value, and timely pricing. * Participate in meetings with designers and internal clients to define project details, proposing alternatives and solutions to meet identified needs. * Coordinate and supervise installation and design service execution. Ensure application of sound engineering practices and compliance with technical standards. * Manage contractual relationships with design and installation firms—manage schedule, cost, and quality aspects of contracts. Monitor budgeted versus actual costs, track and approve progress payments to control activity advancement. Open and monitor non-conformance reports. * Serve as the internal and external “Focal Point” and technical leader for the Project.
