Occupational Safety Technician

Participate, as a member of the company's SESMT (Specialized Service in Engineering Safety and Occupational Medicine), in the development and implementation of occupational health and safety policies; conduct an assessment of the organization's occupational health and safety (OHS) status; identify variables for controlling occupational diseases, incidents, quality of life, and environmental conditions; develop educational initiatives in the field of occupational health and safety; integrate negotiation processes; participate in the adoption of technologies and work processes; investigate and analyze workplace incidents and recommend preventive and control measures, always aiming for "Zero Accidents"; execute and/or lead, at the operational level, activities related to the Integrated Management System (IMS), guiding technical teams in local investigations and assessments of working conditions, general facilities, materials, methods, and operational processes. **Responsibilities and Duties** Lead and monitor actions recommended in IMS action plans, ensuring implementation of proposed measures by respective departments, with the objective of correcting deficiencies or minimizing unsafe working and environmental conditions; Prepare and deliver training on working and environmental conditions, such as use of personal protective equipment (PPE), first aid, fire fighting, pollution control, among others, aiming to raise awareness about targeted prevention; Implement educational programs on incident prevention and health campaigns, promoting dissemination channels, distributing informative materials, monitoring compliance with rules and conditions—or actions—that could cause anomalies or incidents, thereby raising employee awareness regarding Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) conditions; Encourage, monitor, and coordinate the application of specialized protective devices—including appropriate clothing, goggles, masks, belts, and other equipment—providing guidance on usage, cleaning, and storage of PPE and collective protective equipment (CPE), proposing improvements and operational efficiency measures to ensure protection against incidents and reporting to competent official authorities to restore normal operational flow; Comply with policies, procedures, and standards established by the specific management system, using preventive equipment, observing regulatory norms and procedures, reporting deviations, and proposing corrections for unsafe acts, thus contributing to the implementation and maintenance of normative, legal, and regulatory requirements governing the IMS; Participate in internal events / campaigns / trainings related to the IMS; personal and property damage; Conduct inspections relevant to OHS matters, verifying potential fire hazards, product spills, unsafe acts, and other dangers, to provide recommendations ensuring personnel’s physical integrity and occupational health, as well as environmental preservation; Investigate various workplaces, analyzing occupational characteristics and ambient conditions, to assess the need for issuance of insalubrity and/or danger reports by external specialized consultants, based on employees’ exposure levels; Recommend preventive requirements for Health, Environment, and Safety—especially in operational activities—by evaluating risks, conditions, and protective measures, aiming to enable development of procedures that prevent or minimize adverse effects on human life and the environment; Investigate workplace incidents, assessing causes and consequences of occurrences, actively participating in investigations alongside competent authorities, examining evidence, equipment or facility failures, and human error, to implement preventive safety measures and comply with legislation; Record irregularities, completing appropriate forms, preparing incident statistics and specific indices, to obtain supporting data for improving safety conditions; Prepare and revise various reports, mappings, and other requirements related to safety, occupational health, and environmental protection, implementing action plans, recommending or collaborating on reports and suggestions to help meet legal requirements or improve workplace safety, health, and environmental conditions; Participate in occupational safety meetings, contributing to the CIPA5 process guidance, discussing topics, presenting suggestions, proposing training, and assisting in the election and inauguration of committee members; Collaborate in SIPATMA planning processes, executing and/or guiding the CIPA on installation arrangements, lecture organization, simulations, cost assessments, provision of giveaways, transportation, furniture rentals, safety equipment and artifacts, sponsorship coordination, event promotion, and staff mobilization, aiming to fulfill the established schedule; Maintain internal contacts to address protective equipment needs, alert staff to unsafe acts, comply with procedures, collect statistical data, among others, to support IMS implementation; Act proactively during medical emergencies or workplace incidents, administering first aid, advising supervisors, or taking appropriate steps for removal and referral, seeking support from internal and external departments; Perform other tasks of similar nature and complexity, as determined by the supervisor. **Requirements and Qualifications** High School \- Technical Level Valid diploma as Occupational Safety Technician registered with the MTE – Ministry of Labor and Employment. First Aid and Fire Brigade training desirable. Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 Management Systems. Knowledge of accident investigation tools. Experience with Environmental Management Systems. Solid knowledge of OHS standards and legislation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in this role.
