Main Responsibilities of a Plastic Injection Molding Machine Set-Up Technician: * **Machine Setup and Adjustment:** Performs mold changes and adjusts parameters such as temperature, pressure, injection time, and cooling time according to product technical specifications. * **Process Monitoring:** Monitors the injection process, verifies the quality of produced parts, identifies issues, and implements corrections. * **Quality Control:** Conducts dimensional and visual inspections of parts to ensure compliance with established quality standards. * **Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:** Performs basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubricating machines, and assists with more complex maintenance activities. * **Raw Material Feeding:** Loads the machine with required raw materials for production, such as plastic granules. * **Workplace Organization and Cleaning:** Maintains an organized and clean workplace, ensuring safety and operational efficiency. * **Process Documentation:** Records production process data, including machine parameters, quantity of parts produced, and any identified issues. * **Teamwork:** Collaborates with other professionals in the area, such as machine operators and maintenance technicians. * **New Product Development:** Participates in new product development by assisting in defining injection parameters and selecting materials. * **Training New Employees:** May assist in training new injection molding machine operators. Technical Knowledge: * **Injection Molding Machines:** Understanding of machine operation principles, types of machines, safety systems, adjustments and calibrations, and basic preventive and corrective maintenance. * **Molding Processes:** Knowledge of injection processes, process parameters (temperature, pressure, time, speed), and production cell control. * **Plastic Materials:** Types of plastic materials, their properties, behavior within the machine, applications, and identification methods. * **Technical Drawings:** Ability to read and interpret technical drawings to understand product specifications and properly adjust the machine. * **Occupational Safety:** Knowledge of safety regulations, hazard identification, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.
