You have the power to shape things to make them better. About the Role: Alcoa is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join its Juruti/PA site and work specifically within the Geotechnical team. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to strategies related to tailings disposal areas, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures, the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) guidelines, and applicable legislation. Additionally, you will perform technical management of structures and the team, composed of engineers, analysts, technicians, and operators. Key responsibilities include: * Participate in developing Tailings Disposal Master Plans for the site, conducting annual reviews and triennial updates; * Support dam and pond inventories and risk management records, ensuring projects meet Alcoa’s technical standards and EHS, cost, maintenance, reliability, production, and quality requirements; * Explore technologies and opportunities to enhance the safety and efficiency of tailings and waste design, construction, and disposal processes; * Provide support to Civil and Geotechnical Engineering by performing peer reviews of engineering designs against Alcoa’s standards and procedures, as well as national and international best practices; * Ensure control of critical factors affecting short- and long-term stability of dams and ponds, ensuring compliance with national and international standards and best practices; * Participate in internal audits of waste and tailings structures, as well as monitor independent structural integrity audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and documented per quality system requirements. What You Can Bring to This Role: * Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Engineering: Civil, Geological, and/or Mining; * Postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering; * Solid experience in mining and engineering sectors, with involvement in general geotechnical projects; * Knowledge of internationally recognized standards and methodologies for tailings design, management, and operation (ANCOLD, MAC/CDA, USBR); * Advanced English proficiency is considered a plus; * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, risk management capability, and strategic vision focused on results and customer needs. * Work arrangement: remote work with periodic travel (fly-in fly-out) to Juruti/PA. Availability to respond to out-of-hours demands (emergencies).
