As **Data Engineering Coordinator – LATAM Hub**, you will play a hands-on technical leadership role, responsible for organizing, structuring, and evolving the region’s data engineering solutions. This position combines **hands-on work + coordination of a lean team**, requiring someone who enjoys understanding existing environments, absorbing technical knowledge from multiple countries, and transforming it into more structured, standardized, and scalable processes. You will serve as the technical reference for Latin America and collaborate closely with local teams, reporting to the area manager. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** ======================== ### **Hands-on Technical Leadership** * Act as the primary technical reference for data engineering across LATAM, actively contributing to the development and maintenance of solutions. ### **Process Mapping and Knowledge Absorption** * Understand and document existing data pipelines and flows across countries in the region. * Absorb local technical knowledge and organize solution continuity. ### **Data Pipeline Development** * Create and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines. * Implement automation, scheduling, and monitoring. ### **Data Standardization and Structuring** * Structure data into layers (bronze and silver) in the Data Lake, promoting consistency and cross-country integration. ### **Architecture and Best Practices** * Apply best practices for Data Lake usage, versioning, notebooks, governance, and access control. ### **Data Source Integration** * Ingest data from diverse sources: internal systems, files, external platforms, and providers. ### **Data Quality** * Implement validation rules, cleansing, and monitoring to ensure information reliability. ### **Technical Documentation** * Create and maintain clear documentation of pipelines, sources, transformations, and architecture. ### **Team Coordination** * Lead and develop 1–2 data engineers. * Organize tasks, track deliveries, and support technical growth. ### **Regional Collaboration** * Collaborate with business and technical teams across LATAM countries, ensuring alignment and solution continuity. **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** =========================== * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data, or related fields * Solid, hands-on experience in data engineering * Proven experience with PySpark and Python * Strong SQL knowledge * Experience with Databricks or similar environments * Experience building and maintaining end-to-end pipelines * Experience organizing data in Data Lakes and layered models (bronze and silver) * Experience serving as a technical reference * Ability to quickly learn existing environments and organize processes * Experience with Power Automate or automation tools * Conversational Spanish (intermediate or higher) — high usability * Intermediate or higher English proficiency for global interaction **SKILLS** ========== * Technical leadership with an execution-oriented profile * Organization and attention to detail * Ability to structure and document processes * Strong communication with both technical and non-technical audiences * Collaboration with multicultural and multi-country teams * Autonomy, accountability, and ownership **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** ============================ * Knowledge of R * Experience with Power BI * Prior experience in regional/multi-country environments * Experience in consumer goods, food, or B2B sectors * Experience coordinating small teams At Unilever, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.
