What you do here will enable thousands of physicians to focus on what matters most: caring for people. ### **About the Role** As a **Software Engineering Manager**, you will lead an engineering team, develop exceptional engineers, and ensure consistent delivery of the platform’s most critical systems. We are launching a new strategic initiative — built from scratch — with high growth potential and intensive use of AI as a core part of the solution. We use Cursor, Claude Code, and Devin daily — not as experiments, but as standard practice. At Caveo, leadership and technical excellence go hand in hand. We expect our managers to stay close to the code, lead design reviews, and participate in the most important technical decisions of their teams — not as shadow ICs, but as leaders who deeply understand what they build. If you enjoy developing engineers, building high-performing teams, and improving the lives of thousands of people, this role is for you. ### **What You’ll Do** * **People Leadership** — Develop engineers through consistent 1:1s, honest feedback, growth plans, and rigorous performance management * **Team Performance** — Build a high-performing team, define clear expectations of excellence, and ensure predictable delivery in short cycles * **Technical Direction** — Partner with tech leads to define technical priorities, conduct design reviews, and uphold high standards of quality, security, and reliability * **Technical Proximity** — Stay close to the code and systems: review PRs, participate in design reviews, and contribute technically where it delivers maximum leverage * **Hiring** — Attract, assess, and hire exceptional engineers; rigorously calibrate levels using the leveling guide and build a diverse, sustainable team * **AI** — Ensure the team operates fluently with AI tools, identifying concrete opportunities to leverage them across systems, workflows, and products * **Cross-functional Partnership** — Work side by side with Product, Design, and other functions to translate business goals into clear technical execution * **Culture** — Build a culture of ownership, transparency, and technical excellence aligned with Caveo’s engineering principles ### **What We’re Looking For** * Proven experience leading engineering teams building scalable products * Demonstrated track record of developing engineers and building high-performing teams * Strong technical background — still reads and writes code, leads design reviews, and maintains sharp technical judgment * Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term technical investment * Experience hiring senior engineers and rigorously calibrating levels * Fluency with AI development tools and clarity on how to apply them in the team’s day-to-day work * Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders ### **Why Caveo** **The mission is real.** Physicians in Brazil face complex financial lives — multiple income streams, PJ structures, tax obligations — and existing tools were not built for them.
