Description

The Archivist position at CAIXA involves conducting a detailed diagnosis of the collection, including analysis of documentary sets, identification of media and materials, assessment of conservation status, segregation of infested documents, and guidance on appropriate storage standards. The professional will be responsible for inventorying the collection, preparing technical reports with quantitative and qualitative descriptions, and identifying restoration needs. Key responsibilities include sorting, organizing, and registering publications, objects, and documents acquired through purchases, donations, or exchanges; archival processing of the collection through sorting, classification, description, and indexing according to the Document Arrangement Framework; developing glossaries, controlled vocabularies, and Document Arrangement Frameworks to facilitate document description and retrieval in databases; as well as cleaning, preservation, and conservation of collections. To apply for the Archivist position at CAIXA, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Archival Science recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and have proven experience in diagnosis and management of documentary collections, including analysis, sorting, classification, description, indexing, and conservation of documents. Candidates must possess technical knowledge to conduct inventories, prepare detailed technical reports on the condition of collections and restoration requirements, and develop glossaries and arrangement frameworks to facilitate document organization and retrieval. It is essential to have skills in cleaning and preserving materials, as well as the ability to work interdisciplinarily, collaborating with museologists, historians, and other professionals in developing or reviewing museological plans.
