About the Role: A Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Amazon tackles business challenges through technology, owns their systems end-to-end, and influences the direction of our technology affecting hundreds of millions of customers globally. At Amazon, an SDE designs flexible and scalable solutions and works on some of the most complex large-scale computing challenges, applying expertise in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. Amazon’s IES Latech \& GIS team is hiring Software Developers to work at our Software Development Center in Brazil. The IES Latech \& GIS team builds new features for Amazon.com (http://amazon.com/) across different countries and develops systems to support Amazon’s operations. You’ll learn how to design, implement, and test highly scalable solutions using AWS cloud platform and its diverse services, in agile and challenging projects, collaborating with top professionals in the field. Remember: “it’s always Day 1.” These groups are organized under the following pillars: BEN — Black Employee Network, Women@Amazon, Glamazon (LGBTQIA\+), and People with Disabilities. **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS** ------------------------ * Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design * Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product * 3\+ years of professional software development experience * Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, C\#, JavaScript, Python, Ruby or Perl * Experience in Database like NoSQL, or experience with programming/scripting (Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C\#, Chef, Perl, Ruby and/or PHP) and experience in Linux and Networking protocols * Experience in agile/scrum or related collaborative workflow, or experience in Unix **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- * Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or Bachelor's degree * Experience in designing and developing large-scale services * Experience working with the software development lifecycle from conception to delivery * Experience understanding needs of business and end customers and translating them into right solutions * Experience mentoring an engineering community on complex technical issues * Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity * Experience in oral and written communication in English * Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience in software development * Experience mentoring or training the engineering community on complex technical issues Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
