About the Role: A Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Amazon tackles business challenges through technology, owns their systems end-to-end, and influences the direction of our technology impacting hundreds of millions of customers globally. The Amazon IES LATECH \& GIS team is hiring Software Developers to work at our Software Development Center in Brazil. The IES LATECH \& GIS team builds new features for Amazon.com (http://amazon.com/) across different countries and develops systems to support Amazon’s operations. You’ll learn how to design, implement, and test highly scalable solutions using the AWS cloud platform and its diverse suite of services, in agile and challenging projects, working alongside top professionals in the field. Remember: “it’s always Day 1.” These groups are organized under the following pillars: BEN \- Black Employee Network, Women@Amazon, Glamazon (LGBTQIA\+), and People with Disabilities. **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS** ------------------------ * Understand and evaluate critical end-to-end applications and assess high-level and low-level design. * Actively contribute to teams’ technical strategy and be accountable for technical tradeoffs potentially impacting existing applications, as well as other applications across Amazon. * 5\+ years of software development experience. * Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C, C\+\+, C\#, Java, Python, Golang, Kotlin, JavaScript, Clojure, or another OOP language. * Systems design and familiarity with application and database programming in UNIX/Linux. * Experience with Agile/Lean (Kanban, SCRUM, RUP, XP), OO modeling, Web Services, UNIX, and databases. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines. * Proven track record developing large-scale solutions in ambiguous environments. * Knowledge of Software Development Life-Cycle models and experience delivering efficient software. * Customer-facing skills, including the ability to deeply understand requirements. * Recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts. * Demonstrated history of delivering large, cross-functional projects. * Verbal and written communication skills. * Proven analytical and design skills. * Experience guiding and training the engineering community on complex technical topics.
