Job Summary: The Human Sciences Textbook Editor will be responsible for pre-editing, development, and supervision of teaching materials for the National Textbook and Teaching Materials Program (PNLD), ensuring content quality and suitability. Join us in this mission to improve public education and build, together, a fairer, more innovative, and sustainable future! **Responsibilities and Duties** * Pre-editing of textbook content, identifying issues, making corrections, and standardizing text. * Developing or guiding the development of preface and post-text elements of the series. * Developing or guiding the development of photography, cartography, illustration, and quoted text briefs, among other requests. * Selecting photographs according to authorial guidance and PNLD tender rules. * Writing captions. * Approving proofs of maps, charts, and illustrations. * Validating illustration drafts. * Evaluating graphic design jointly with management and other company departments. * Occasionally suggesting activities, sections, or sidebars. * Editing textbooks and digital materials, verifying content accuracy and updates, textual clarity, and appropriateness of illustrations and activities. * Resolving queries with authors. * Commissioning critical reviews and external collaborators’ work under supervision of the senior editor, coordination, and area management. * Supervising tasks performed by freelance editors, interns, editorial assistants, and junior editors. * Approving proofs while tracking pending items related to iconography, cartography, illustration, and third-party texts. * Monitoring schedule adherence and flagging issues to management. * Contributing to positive author relationships through interactions and negotiations to align project goals. * Supporting the development of other editors, assistants, and interns by providing feedback on their work and sharing improvement suggestions. **Requirements and Qualifications** * Proven experience editing Human Sciences textbooks for the National Textbook and Teaching Materials Program (PNLD). * Bachelor’s degree, undergraduate degree, or postgraduate degree in History, Geography, Philosophy, or Sociology. * Knowledge of the editorial process. * Effective communication skills. * Ability to work collaboratively in teams. * Organizational skills and deadline management. **Additional Information** **Work Location**: São Paulo/SP \- Hybrid model: 1 day per week onsite **What You Can Expect From Us?** * Profit Sharing: Celebrating results is part of Cogna’s culture. * Meal or Food Allowance: Provided via a flexible benefits card. * Health Insurance: A comprehensive health plan, including dependents, with co-payment. * Dental Insurance: Available to help maintain your smile. **But wait—there’s more!** * Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships: Through our educational units for you and your dependents (spouse and children). * Birthday Day Off: You may choose a day to relax and celebrate. * SESC Membership: Access to numerous opportunities for improving quality of life. * Univers Pharmacy Partnership: Discounts on a wide range of medications. * Corporate University: Multiple learning paths and free courses in our corporate university to support your continued growth with us. * Wellhub (Gympass): To help you stay active in your daily life. * Ninho Program: A dedicated program supporting our families expecting a new baby. * Valoriza \- Internal Recruitment Program: To accelerate your career through internal opportunities.
