**Responsibilities and duties**
The **Data Product Owner (Data PO)** has the mission/role of balancing technical complexity with business needs, ensuring that all data — structured or unstructured — is valuable and easily accessible to those who need it, within a secure and scalable ecosystem. Building a scalable and efficient infrastructure supported by a governance and accessibility strategy enables the organization to maximize the value of its data — serving as a catalyst for Big Data and advanced analytics strategies such as Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, and real-time analytics.
**Key challenges of this role:**
* Collaborate closely with Governance, Architecture, Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Security, and business units — managing all stages of data product delivery;
* Act as the focal point for communication, alignment, and escalation of risks, dependencies, and blockers related to data products;
* Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data products under your governance — ensuring alignment with business objectives. For these products, define how to collect and deliver clean, accessible, and actionable data across various organizational units — aligning with strategic drivers;
* Translate corporate and strategic needs into clear, prioritized, and actionable requirements for data teams;
* Ensure data products comply with best practices in governance, information security, privacy, and regulatory compliance throughout their entire lifecycle;
* Manage agile ceremonies, lead backlog refinement, support technical decisions, and prioritize backlog items based on impact, value, and feasibility;
* Define and evolve data contracts, success metrics, SLAs, and quality criteria for data products;
* **With Governance \|** Implement data quality through validation, continuous monitoring, and auditing aligned with business and product requirements;
* **With Architecture and Engineering \|** Guarantee scalability and performance by applying appropriate infrastructure to the product per business and product requirements;
* **With Governance, Architecture, and Engineering \|** Ensure efficient accessibility/consumption by diverse users and systems — standardizing APIs or data visualization tools per policies;
* **With Security and Governance \|** Safeguard data security and privacy — supporting creation of policies and processes to define robust access controls, including authorization and authentication policies, protecting sensitive data;
* **With Data Science \|** Support initiatives by organizing data to make it accessible for data scientists and engineers preparing models.
