To support this mission, Syngenta’s Controlled Environments team is seeking an Associate Scientist in Aracati/CE. This role will support the delivery of phenotypic evaluations of maize breeding lines in controlled environments, managing data and reporting metrics related to the trait conversion/introgression process. * Conduct phenotypic evaluations of maize breeding lines in controlled environments. * Manage experimental and process data, ensuring operational metric reporting for the trait conversion process in controlled environments. * Responsible for end-to-end tracking and documentation of activities involving regulated materials. * Ensure adherence to all procedures, instructions, standards, and critical points impacting seed quality across the entire production chain. * Execute tasks according to the operational schedule to meet agreed-upon deadlines and quality requirements. * Ensure full compliance with exemplary adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and all other company policies. * Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in the controlled-environment trait introgression operation. **Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Biology, or Biotechnology, plus a Master’s degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding, Biotechnology, or related fields. * Knowledge of Genetics, Plant Breeding, and Molecular Biology. * Experience in maize seed production in controlled environments. * Proficiency in computer tools (Office suite), data analysis and visualization (e.g., R, Python, Power BI, etc.). * Intermediate English proficiency (Advanced level preferred). **Preferred** * Experience cultivating maize in controlled environments. * Practical knowledge of maize trait introgression processes. * Practical knowledge of seed production for regulated materials. * Experience in maize breeding line phenotyping. * Experience working in cross-functional teams. * Skills in communication, training, and supervision of temporary staff. **Additional Information** **What We Offer** * A culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion, fosters professional development, and seeks a balance between professional and personal life to support team members.
