Description
### **About the Role**
We are looking for a **Mid-Level Backend Developer** to join Makasí and help build and evolve APIs and services that power our credit, budgeting, and construction planning products, risk management, and financial operations.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Data Science to transform complex business rules into scalable, secure, and data-driven solutions.
We seek someone with strong technical skills, autonomy commensurate with mid-level experience, a pragmatic mindset, and clear communication — all essential for thriving in a remote, dynamic, and continuously evolving environment.
This role is critical to ensuring stability, performance, and scalability of the solutions connecting the construction market to the financial market.
### **Responsibilities**
* Translate product requirements into efficient, simple, and sustainable technical solutions.
* Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and services.
* Develop integrations with relational databases, message queues, event systems, and internal/external services.
* Contribute to application performance, security, resilience, and observability.
* Participate in technical discussions, backlog refinement, and code reviews while adhering to engineering best practices.
* Write automated tests, technical documentation, and maintainable code.
* Diagnose and resolve bugs, proposing continuous improvements to systems, processes, and architecture.
* Support integrations with Data teams, including event-driven services, pipelines, and ETL processes when needed.
* Contribute to the evolution of systems involving credit, risk, contracts, financial indicators, and operational data.
### **Required Technical Skills and Experience**
* Solid backend development experience with **Python or Node.js/TypeScript**.
* Hands-on experience building and maintaining REST APIs.
* Knowledge of relational databases, especially **PostgreSQL**, MySQL, or similar.
* Experience with messaging, event systems, or asynchronous processing (e.g., RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub, Redis, Kafka, or similar).
* Strong data modeling practices, Git version control, automated testing, and clean code principles.
* Experience with containers, especially Docker.
* Practical knowledge of CI/CD and automated pipelines.
* Familiarity with cloud environments, preferably **Google Cloud Platform**.
* Understanding of security best practices, authentication, and authorization (e.g., JWT, OAuth2, or similar).
* Ability to work with financial data, critical business rules, and risk-sensitive systems.
* Clear communication and ability to collaborate effectively in a remote setting.
### **Ideal Profile**
* Autonomy to solve problems, investigate scenarios, and propose solutions.
* Analytical mindset with attention to detail and impact orientation.
* Organization, proactivity, and discipline for remote work.
* Technical curiosity, continuous learning, and a constructive attitude.
* Strong collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, and Data teams.
* Pragmatism to balance quality, speed, and simplicity.
* Maturity to handle critical systems, integrations, and complex business rules.
### **Nice-to-Have**
* Experience with **FastAPI** or other asynchronous frameworks.
* Familiarity with data engineering and asynchronous workflows (e.g., Celery, Airflow, or similar).
* Knowledge of BigQuery or columnar databases.
* Prior experience with financial products, credit, risk, collections, insurance, or real estate.
* Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Metabase or Looker Studio.
* Understanding of BIM concepts or experience in the construction industry.
* Awareness of distributed architecture, serverless computing, and observability.
* Experience with Kubernetes.
### **Expected Deliverables**
* Stable, secure, and well-documented backend APIs and services.
* Reliable integrations with internal/external systems, databases, and data pipelines.
* Contributions to continuous improvement of technical quality, testing, and observability.
* Support for evolving solutions related to credit, risk, budgeting/construction planning, and financial operations.
* Active participation in backlog refinement, technical discussions, and code reviews.
