Job Summary: Supervise operation, perform maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment onboard ships, manage crew members, and ensure compliance with regulations. Key Highlights: 1. Position Summary: **POSITION:** **ENGINE OPERATOR (EO)** Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and installations in the Engine Department aboard a ship; perform or supervise, from a shore-based location and/or onboard, inspection and repair work on the ship's mechanical equipment upon port arrival; monitor and manage engine performance and oversee maintenance systems; operate equipment; conduct maneuvers and procedures for berthing, unberthing, and anchoring; train and manage Engine Department crew members; coordinate information flow; comply with and enforce technical, safety, protection, environmental preservation, and health regulations and procedures; monitor and coordinate activities involving confined space work and work at height. **MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES** * Be responsible for the technical, economic, disciplinary, and administrative management of the Engine Department. * Ensure preservation, operation, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment, appliances, and accessories within the department. * Comply with orders from the Captain and instructions from the shipowner's technical department. * Monitor extraordinary services performed in the department and report to the Captain when necessary. * Organize and assign tasks among Engine Department crew members. * Manage all vessel maneuvers conducted in the engine room. * Request repairs and supplies, forwarding them to the Captain for review and approval. * Coordinate receipt, consumption, and conservation of fuel, lubricants, materials, and fresh water (the latter jointly with the Chief Officer). * Plan, control, and execute onboard crew repairs and supervise repairs carried out by shore-based workshops. * Inform the Captain of all abnormalities and incidents occurring in the department. * Maintain an updated inventory of fixed, portable, and spare materials in the Engine Department. * Verify and report tank soundings and the condition of engines, boilers, and auxiliary equipment, especially during handover. * Issue the daily Engine Log while underway and supervise proper completion of the Engine Room Logbook. * Control access to the engine room and boiler rooms. * Ensure crew members perform only duties related to shipboard service. * Monitor water and fuel consumption, ensuring suitable navigability conditions. * Remain onboard during working hours or as required by operational needs, departing only with the Captain's authorization. * Inform the Captain of any absences of department crew members prior to vessel departure. * Implement pollution prevention and response actions outlined in the relevant plan. * Ensure all activities comply with Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental standards. * Fulfill responsibilities stipulated in CTS, NORMAM\-13, ISM, ISPS, and MLC\-2006, where applicable.
