Job Summary: The Senior DBA ensures the performance, availability, and reliability of corporate databases, serving as a technical reference, proactively monitoring systems, and suggesting architectural improvements. Strategic role in architectural improvements **Position**: **Senior DBA** **Responsibilities**: The Senior DBA is responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and reliability of corporate databases. Acting as a technical reference in database management, this professional focuses on proactive monitoring, performance analysis, query tuning, and data infrastructure optimization. They also play a strategic role in suggesting architectural improvements—such as using read replicas, selecting appropriate DBMSs for different scenarios, and providing specialized support for complex cases. While not responsible for data modeling, they closely collaborate with tech leads and software architects, acting as the guardian of data environment health. ● Proactively monitor production databases to identify bottlenecks, inefficient queries, and tuning opportunities; ● Analyze execution plans, indexes, and statistics to support overall system performance; ● Suggest data infrastructure improvements such as use of read replicas, partitioning, parallelism, and instance parameter adjustments; ● Support tech leads and software architects on technical questions and database-related decisions without directly performing data modeling; ● Handle critical performance and unavailability incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action planning; ● Evaluate and propose appropriate database technologies for specific scenarios (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.); ● Ensure proper execution of backups, restores, and recovery policies; ● Automate administrative routines using scripts (SQL, PL/SQL, Bash, Python); ● Monitor data integrity and replication across instances, especially in distributed environments; ● Track and apply version updates, patching, and security enhancements in coordination with infrastructure and DevOps teams; ● Produce and maintain technical documentation for environments and processes; ● Serve as a reference for best practices in database administration and system reliability. **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related fields—currently enrolled or completed (preferred); Postgraduate studies or certifications specific to database management or data architecture are preferred. **Preferred Qualifications**: ● Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a DBA in mission-critical environments; ● Experience with tuning, observability, scalability, and data availability; ● Hands-on administration of multiple DBMSs (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.); ● Experience in high concurrent read/write scenarios. ● Technical English proficiency for reading and interpreting documentation and specialized forums; ● Strong expertise in PostgreSQL/Oracle and read/write strategies (e.g., replicas, partitioning, parallelism, etc.); ● Knowledge of data architecture and integration between services and databases; ● Monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, pg_stat_statements, Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar; ● Scripting in SQL, Bash, Python for routine automation; ● Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD for database scripts, version control with Flyway, Liquibase); ● Experience in high-concurrency, mission-critical environments (e.g., healthcare, finance). ● Curiosity and continuous learning regarding data architecture and DBMS trends. **Location**: BRAZIL HEADQUARTERS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF SÃO PAULO/SP **Working Hours**: 08:00–18:00 MON–THU / 08:00–17:00 FRI — FLEX (220 hours/month) **Salary Range:** From R$ 12.300,00 to R$ 12.500,00 **(Approximate value; subject to change)** Employment Type: Full-time CLT Compensation: R$12.400,00 – R$12.500,00 per month Benefits: * Medical insurance * Dental insurance * Childcare allowance * Life insurance * Meal allowance * Food allowance * Transportation allowance Selection Question(s): * Do you reside in São Paulo? * Do you have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related fields—currently enrolled or completed? * Do you have at least 6 years of experience as a DBA in mission-critical environments?
