If you enjoy working with people, have a good sense of humor, and are responsible, we want to meet you! **About the position:** We are seeking a hands-on DBA with strong expertise in SQL Server and knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB. You will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing database performance, performing basic tuning, reviewing/validating stored procedures prior to execution, and ensuring data integrity and governance. We seek an autonomous, reliable individual with a strong sense of urgency—someone who can start acting and organizing the environment without waiting for detailed instructions. Minimum 2 years of experience with SQL Server. **Key responsibilities** * Continuous performance analysis (primarily SQL Server; also PostgreSQL and MongoDB). * Basic tuning: indexes, statistics, execution plans, instance and database configuration parameters. * Validation and review of stored procedures, views, and queries before deployment to production. * Organization of primary keys (PKs) and foreign keys (FKs); identification of tables lacking indexes or having underutilized/redundant indexes. * Monitoring environment health (jobs, backups, disk space, alerts, blocking, deadlocks). * Creation/adjustment of backup, restore, and recovery testing routines (RPO/RTO). * Support for developers in writing high-performance queries and applying best practices. * Basic security: permissions, roles, essential auditing, and minimum compliance. * Documentation of the environment and applied changes. * Oversight of deployments and maintenance windows with a strong sense of urgency. **Mandatory requirements** * Practical experience as a DBA (mid-level), especially with Microsoft SQL Server. * Strong command of T-SQL, execution plan analysis, indexes (clustered/nonclustered), statistics, and performance troubleshooting. * Applied knowledge of PostgreSQL (Postgres): indexes, EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, VACUUM/ANALYZE/AUTOVACUUM. * Familiarity with MongoDB: document-oriented modeling, indexes, basic profiling, performance metrics. * Experience with backup/restore routines, jobs (SQL Agent), and basic monitoring. * Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and propose improvements. * Reliable, organized profile with a strong sense of urgency. **Nice-to-have qualifications** * Experience with Always On/replication (SQL Server), partitioning, and large-scale index/statistics maintenance. * Monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Server DMVs, Query Store, pg_stat_statements, Percona/MongoDB Compass). * Automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash) and schema versioning (e.g., Flyway, Liquibase). * Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure SQL, RDS/Aurora, Atlas) and associated cost/performance considerations. * Observability (Grafana/Prometheus) and dashboard/alert creation. **Soft skills** * Proactivity and autonomy to “open the database and handle issues directly.” * Clear communication and collaboration with Dev/QA/Product teams. * Rigorous documentation habits and adherence to best practices. * Responsible attitude and ownership mindset.
