Job Summary: Hospital-based speech-language pathologists prevent, diagnose, and treat communication, swallowing, voice, and hearing disorders, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care. Participation in a multidisciplinary team and guidance to patients/families The **speech-language pathologist** in the hospital setting plays an essential—though often underrecognized—role with significant impact on patients' health, safety, and quality of life. Their scope extends far beyond speech: they are specialists trained to prevent, diagnose, and treat disorders of communication, swallowing, voice, and hearing, which may arise or worsen during hospitalization. **Salary**: R$ 4\.251,64 **Workload**: 150 hours (Mon\-Fri) **Modality**: In-person **Responsibilities and Duties** * Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnoses for hospitalized patients or those receiving clinical care, using standardized instruments and techniques to identify impairments in communication, voice, language, hearing, orofacial motor function, and swallowing; * Develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans, defining objectives, methods, and intervention techniques that consider the patient's clinical context, functional progression, and specific therapeutic goals; * Intervene in swallowing disorders (dysphagia) and aspiration risk, evaluating chewing and swallowing function, adjusting food textures, supervising safe ingestion techniques, and preventing respiratory complications; * Collaborate within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, participating in case discussions, joint therapeutic planning, and continuous communication with physicians, nurses, nutritionists, and other professionals to ensure holistic patient care; * Document assessments, interventions, and clinical progress in patients' medical records and hospital information systems, ensuring data accuracy for continuity of care and clinical decision-making; * Provide guidance to patients, families, and caregivers regarding therapeutic procedures, exercises, dietary adaptations, and communication strategies, promoting treatment adherence and health education; * Develop and participate in prevention programs, health promotion initiatives, and continuing education—including preventive actions for speech-language pathology disorders, educational campaigns, and staff training on communication and swallowing in the hospital setting; * Perform all other duties inherent to the position. **Requirements and Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology; * Specialization in the field is desirable; * Valid professional council registration; * Basic Microsoft Office proficiency; * Prior experience in the role is desirable. **Additional Information** * Fuel allowance; * Cafeteria; * SESC benefits; * DayOff. **IMED** is a nonprofit social organization dedicated to public health.
