Job Summary: The Junior Field Engineer is responsible for on-site construction execution, supervising schedule, cost, quality, and safety under the guidance of an experienced engineer. Daily Site Supervision * Be present on-site to supervise work execution. * Verify that activities are carried out in accordance with design documents, technical specifications, and applicable standards. * Support the site supervisor and foremen in organizing work fronts. **2**. Schedule and Physical Progress Control * Update physical progress status (percentage completed per activity). * Compare actual vs. planned progress and flag delays or potential delays. * Suggest adjustments to sequence or additional workforce to recover schedule, in alignment with the responsible engineer. **3**. Measurement and Cost Control * Perform measurements of completed works for contractor payments and internal cost control. * Review third-party measurement reports (contractors, service providers). * Input data into cost and measurement spreadsheets/software (e.g., m³ of concrete, m² of masonry, m of piping). **4\.** Design Document Interpretation and Basic Coordination * Read and interpret plans, sections, structural details, and mechanical/electrical/plumbing drawings at full proficiency. * Verify that executed work corresponds to the latest approved design (revision control). * Identify simple coordination conflicts (e.g., structural vs. piping clashes) and escalate to designers/coordination team. **5\.** Materials and Resources Management * Monitor delivery, storage, and consumption of critical materials (steel, concrete, blocks, finishes, etc.). * Support material procurement planning to prevent stock shortages or overstocking. * Inspect incoming materials for quantity, specification, and apparent quality. **6\.** Execution Quality * Apply and monitor service-specific quality checklists (foundations, structure, masonry, finishes). * Verify plumb, level, concrete cover, thicknesses, joints, alignment, as per design and standards. * Record non-conformities and track corrective actions (rework, reinforcement, adjustments). **7\.** Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection * Support the safety officer in monitoring use of PPEs and collective protective measures (CPMs). * Assist in implementing and monitoring safety procedures (permits, daily safety talks [DDS], signage). * Ensure site organization and cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and compliance with environmental requirements. **8\.** Technical Reporting and Documentation * Prepare daily site reports (weather, teams, activities, incidents). * Produce photographic reports and inspection records. * Assist in preparing RDO (Daily Report), RDA (Accident Report), non-conformance reports, and meeting minutes, where applicable. **9\.** Interface with Clients, Supervisors, and Suppliers * Support the responsible engineer during meetings with clients, supervisors, or contractors. * Accompany technical visits, noting open items and agreements. * Provide technical support during negotiations with contractors (scope adjustments, deadlines, corrections). **10\.** Support for Estimating, Planning, and Proposals * Conduct quantity take-offs from design documents for supplementary estimates and change orders. * Collaborate with the planning team to develop or update schedules (e.g., MS Project, Excel). * Support preparation of technical documentation for proposals and change orders (memoranda, scopes, spreadsheets).
