Description
Perform nursing support activities in the assigned department (Emergency Department, Inpatient Ward, ICU, or Operating Room), providing patient care, assisting with hygiene and medication administration, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, adhering to good clinical practices, safety standards, and biosafety protocols, thereby contributing to patient recovery and clinical improvement.
**1\. Organization**
* Receive and hand over nursing shift reports at the bedside, aligning on incidents, patient status, pending procedures, and internal controls.
* Record materials and medications used during patient care in the patient care record.
* Monitor and record ambient temperature, medication refrigerator temperature, and humidity as required by the department, using designated log sheets to ensure daily control and maintain medication stability.
* Verify availability of materials required for patient hygiene according to departmental requirements to ensure smooth operations.
* Inspect unit rooms, checking equipment functionality, material and medication restocking, and evaluating cleanliness and organization.
* Request, manage inventory, and monitor expiration dates of medications and sterilized supplies.
* Maintain nursing devices, equipment, and supplies in proper working condition.
* Request and track consumption of materials and medications from the Pharmacy.
* Request necessary uniforms from the linen department when stock is low, ensuring continuous availability for optimal patient care.
**2\. Patient Care**
* Provide patient care while ensuring comfort and well-being, adhering to good clinical practices, safety standards, and protocols.
* Perform nursing procedures in support of the medical team to meet service demands.
* Verify physician-prescribed medications and confirm availability prior to administration.
* Administer medications at scheduled times to promote patient health improvement.
* Perform low-complexity wound dressings after training and under Registered Nurse supervision.
* Monitor vital signs and clinical deterioration scores, immediately notifying the Registered Nurse of any abnormalities.
* Accompany patients during transport for examinations, ensuring specialized care if needed.
* Document nursing notes in the integrated system, entering all relevant information to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
* Interact courteously with family members and visitors, providing necessary information. Monitor patient fluid balance via surgical drains.
* Report notifiable diseases.
3\. Cleaning and Hygiene
* Transport soiled materials to the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) for cleaning and disinfection.
* Perform equipment and bed hygiene according to established aseptic standards to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
4\. Administrative Activities
* Support process improvement under guidance from immediate leadership, mentoring staff and offering suggestions to enhance workflows.
* Supervise Nursing Technicians during their probationary period.
* Register patient admissions and discharges in the system.
* Suggest improvements to clinical routines in the area.
* Verify, organize, replenish, and manage supplies, medications, and documents; identify needs and submit requests to respective departments to maintain adequate stock levels.
* Maintain nursing devices, equipment, and supplies in proper working condition.
* Deliver, sign for, and document materials sent to the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) for tracking and indicator reporting.
* Request replacement or exchange of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
* Comply with guidelines established by the Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC).
* Follow safety procedures by using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), according to area-specific requirements and work instructions, minimizing accident risks and ensuring safety during task execution.
