Focus on scalability, productivity, and continuous service improvement As a **Software Engineer Backend** at Mercado Livre, you will design and scale innovative and secure systems that solve real-world, high-impact problems. You will work in a dynamic environment leveraging cutting-edge technology, sound engineering practices, proprietary AI models, and continuous learning — all aimed at democratizing e-commerce and financial services across Latin America. Imagine\-yourself leading challenging, dynamic, and innovative projects and being **responsible for:** * Collaborating with the Cloud and Platform team to gain an overall view of our internal platform development and exposure to cross\-Meli impact projects. * Designing and implementing solutions to address high-volume, resilient problems with strong emphasis on scalability, productivity, and uptime. Designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving highly complex Fury services such as BigQueue, KVS, OS, DS, and Streams so they can serve as foundational services for all applications within the Meli ecosystem. * Actively participating in the creation of new services arising from UN needs analysis or technological advancements, as well as in organizing, defining, and prioritizing the team’s backlog and roadmap. * Focusing on component reuse, task automation, and developing supporting tools (e.g., CLIs), etc. * Engaging with development teams (e.g., handling support tickets, conducting surveys and talks) to understand their needs and improve developer experience, then addressing those needs through service development with strong emphasis on usability and documentation. * Continuously developing skills, training on new technologies, applications, cloud providers, and services that deliver broad benefits to teams. **What are we looking for in you?** * Backend development expertise in languages such as Java, Go, or NodeJS; familiarity with REST APIs, Git, New Relic, Elastic, etc. is desirable. * Experience with cloud-based services is considered a plus. * Knowledge of concurrent programming and high-throughput systems. * Availability to perform deployment, maintenance, or support tasks during nighttime hours. The most critical implementations of our solutions occur between 03:00 and 05:00\.
