Your work will involve collaboration with local communities, fieldwork, and direct contributions to projects integrating biodiversity conservation, climate action, and community development. **Position Summary:** We are seeking a professional to assist in implementing scientific monitoring and environmental data collection activities within conservation and carbon credit (REDD\+) projects. The professional will work directly in the field in the Humaitá region of the state of Amazonas, contributing to the implementation of environmental and biodiversity monitoring protocols, ecological data collection and recording, information organization, and logistical support for scientific activities conducted in project territories. This role requires fieldwork, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and respectful engagement with local communities and Indigenous peoples. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:** * Assist with environmental and socio-environmental field monitoring activities in the Humaitá region of the state of Amazonas. * Collect ecological data following protocols defined by the scientific team. * Use field equipment such as GPS devices, data collection applications, and other environmental monitoring instruments. * Record, organize, and systematize field-collected data, ensuring accuracy and quality of information. * Assist in the installation and maintenance of monitoring structures and equipment, such as inventory plots and camera traps. * Support training sessions for local monitors and community members on environmental monitoring and data collection. * Participate in community engagement activities related to the project’s environmental monitoring efforts. * Assist in organizing field activities, including materials and expedition support. * Support preparation and organization of field records and reports. * Follow technical protocols and project team guidance during field activity implementation. **Minimum Qualifications:** * Completed technical or undergraduate degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Forestry Engineering, or related fields. * Prior experience in field activities for environmental projects, conservation, or scientific research. * Valid Brazilian driver’s license (Category B) and experience driving on unpaved roads and in remote, hard-to-access areas. **Desirable Qualifications:** * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in data recording and systematization. * Ability to follow technical protocols and scientific methodologies for data collection. * Capacity to guide community monitors in environmental monitoring and data collection activities. * Ability to work effectively in teams within remote environments and under challenging operational conditions. **Skills:** * Effective communication and respectful conduct when interacting with the Wildlife Works team and Indigenous populations, demonstrating cultural sensitivity, empathy, and respect. * Organization and attention to detail in data recording and systematization. * Ability to follow technical protocols and scientific methodologies for data collection. * Capacity to work collaboratively in field environments. * Willingness and adaptability to perform fieldwork, including in remote locations. **Other Requirements:** * Availability for frequent travel and extended field stays according to the project’s activity schedule. * Willingness to work in hard-to-access areas, including overland, riverine, and forest trail transportation. * Familiarity with navigation and field data collection tools will be considered an advantage. * *At Wildlife Works, we deeply value diversity and believe in the richness generated by collaborative efforts rooted in multiple perspectives, life trajectories, and contexts.
