Responsibilities
DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
We are seeking an engineer with the right attitude and aptitude to join the Research and Development (R\+D) Department of the VAN/EVC Division at the Mercedes\-Benz Vitoria plant. The R\+D Division is responsible for product matters related to vehicles produced on the Vitoria lines (Vito, V-Class, and Marco Polo), and in the future, VLE and VLS.
As a Development Liaison (EVS), you will be a key technical figure and an ‘information hinge’ between Development and Plant Organization, ensuring communication and resolution of issues in the real manufacturing environment (shopfloor, line, module group). Ability to independently navigate factory areas to achieve the plant’s objective of producing the world’s most desirable products.
Beyond technical knowledge, this position is especially relevant due to the technological transformation and industrialization of the new VAN.EA platform, as well as series activities and new launches (VLE, VLS, and new vans in the coming years).
Main Responsibilities
* Act as the primary technical contact point between Development (VAN/E) and Plant/Operations (VAN/O) regarding product and process topics in Vitoria and series production.
* Ensure and optimize communication flows between separate organizations, guaranteeing rapid and traceable responses.
* Drive change management and series optimizations: coordinate product engineering, assess impacts on bills of materials/feasibility, and track implementation.
* Support launch in new projects and accompany series production: identify deviations, coordinate error elimination processes involving product changes.
* Interdisciplinary coordination with Production, Logistics, Quality, Planning, Sales/Order Centers, and international partners such as suppliers or MBRDI.
* Presence on the shopfloor for case analysis, technical support for rework/repair solutions, and special designs.
* Preparation of presentations for cross-functional committees and teams, ensuring clarity and technical accuracy.
* Contribute to organizational preparation for VAN.XA: training, alignment of processes/tools, and support for qualification.
Qualifications
Requirements
* University degree in Engineering (Industrial, Aeronautical, Automotive) or equivalent qualification.
* Proven experience in product development close to series production and projects involving series launches or series support in the automotive industry (OEM or similar engineering firms).
* Solid understanding of the product development process, modification/change management, and experience with PROs, SOP\-EOP, model modifications, and annual changes.
* Proficiency with PDM and engineering tools/systems (e.g., Smaragd, Dialog E / Dialog P, Engineering Client, ZEUS, ACM) and understanding of vehicle topology/structure.
* Experience in audit processes and series assurance is advantageous. Experience with agile methodologies and/or coordination of engineering service providers, component suppliers, and other services such as rework is also valuable.
* Knowledge in at least one manufacturing interface area (body shop, assembly, rework/repair, pre\-series production, special designs/constructions, launch support).
* Proactive profile, high resilience, team-oriented and results-driven, with negotiation skills in international environments and fluency in three languages (Spanish, English, German) for global collaboration.
