We work daily to ensure millions of transactions flow securely through our systems with low latency and extremely high availability. Our mission is to provide a modern, simple, and highly performant acquiring platform, enabling businesses to process card payments like true fintechs. **About the Challenge:** As a Software Engineer in Acquiring, you will play a lead role in building and evolving the systems underpinning our card stack. This includes handling critical protocols, complex integrations with card networks and sub-acquirers, as well as settlement and reconciliation flows managing large financial volumes. ### **You will:** * Plan, develop, and scale APIs and services covering the full acquiring transaction lifecycle (authorization, capture, cancellation, reversal, settlement). * Enhance integrations with card providers, networks, issuers, and gateways, ensuring compliance with protocols such as ISO 8583, authorization APIs, clearing & settlement, among others. * Build asynchronous systems for automated financial reconciliation between acquirer–network–merchant. * Implement and maintain rule engines for anti-fraud and risk prevention, guaranteeing responses within critical latency thresholds. * Develop data pipelines for generating statements, payouts, financial reports, and risk views. * Continuously optimize performance: reduce latency, increase throughput, and minimize cloud resource usage. * Eliminate operational noise through automation, proactive monitoring, circuit breakers, alerts, and advanced observability. * Participate in war rooms during critical incidents, performing debugging and production mitigation. * Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code that other engineers love to maintain. ### **Must-Have Qualifications:** * Strong software development experience. * Familiarity with serverless architectures, microservices, and event-driven design. * Experience with ultra-high-volume transactional systems and strict latency SLAs (authorization in milliseconds). * Experience with asynchronous messaging, retry queues, and dead-letter handling. * Ability to quickly understand existing systems by reading clean, standardized code. * DevOps mindset: cloud management, cost optimization, observability, and monitoring. * "Lean" mindset: remove complexity, simplify, and deliver efficiently. * Ability to translate payment business rules into robust, scalable solutions. ### **Nice-to-Have Qualifications:** * Experience with GCP: Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, Cloud Scheduler. * Experience with acquiring protocols: ISO 8583, authorization messages, chargebacks, clearing and reconciliation. * Knowledge of the card ecosystem: networks (Visa, Mastercard), schemes, issuers, sub-acquiring. * Experience with anti-fraud, risk models, decision engines, and tokenization (PCI DSS). * Expertise in settlement processes: payouts, funding, multi-merchant reconciliation. * Familiarity with standards such as ISO 20022, integration with CIP, SLC, and electronic payment models. * Prior experience in fintechs, acquirers, gateways, or payment companies. **What We Offer:**At Stark Bank, we invest in your success and believe in a workplace where you can thrive.
